Always Playing Catch-Up!

Gosh, I knew it had been a while since my last blog post, but I didn't realize it had been that  long!   For more than a year, now, Donald's been sole owner of his web-design business, and I've been pitching in where I could, originally with small, sporadic jobs.  I've been depositing checks, mailing invoices (before everyone switched over to email), copywriting, emailing reports to clients, occasionally doing some of the simplest parts of building websites and filling in the content-- that kind of thing.  As time has progressed, the work has become more consistent.  I still handle the monthly checks and assist with the occasional data entry, etc. for new sites, but my primary focus is on copywriting-- specifically, writing for SEO (search engine optimization).  I usually enjoy it when I have an idea.  When I don't  have any ideas (or the idea involves researching and writing about health problems and medical procedures 😱), it's somewhat les...

More FOs and WIPs

There's another FO for the blog!  I've lost track of how many years this particular project has been in hibernation.  It spent some time in a basket in the closet, I think, then moved to the computer desk, where (surely!) I would see it and be inspired to finish it.  (No, I just stopped noticing it altogether and only touched it when it was in my way or needed to move so I could dust or tidy the desk.)   However long it's been, I finally made myself finish Kimberly's hedgehog mittens.  They are not perfect or identical, but they're done , and you know what they say-- done is better than perfect!   All that was left to do was to attach the fluffy part (eyelash-type yarn) and the ears, then embroider the eyes and noses.  I just hate doing that type of fiddly stuff, so I kept putting it off.  😖 Well, at least it's all in the past, now, and I think I can safely promise myself that I'll never make hedgehog mittens again!  Here they are ...

It's Been a While!

It's been a long time!  I got a new computer at the end of 2019, which necessitated getting all the programs reinstalled, including some so-called upgrades that actually mean more work rather than less.  (I'll just go ahead and admit that I hate change.  I like things to be where I expect them to be and to work the way they've always worked.  A born fuddy-duddy, if you will.) At about the same time, I got my first new-to-me smart phone, which I love and am using for a lot of my photos, now-- but that also came with a learning curve.  Figuring out where photos end up, how best to get them from Point A to Point B, etc.  (Honestly, I still have a lot to learn with that... I want to find a good editing app for the phone to see if I can streamline things by doing most of the editing directly on the device.) Then there's the fact that I still hadn't completely worked out all the kinks in the new photo storage system that took the place of the photo-hosting ...
