Sew I See!

It's happened again!  Time keeps slippin' into the future, as they say! 😜 I was ready to post some photos a couple of weeks ago, but then I had technical difficulties, which meant no photos.  A craft blog without photos is a very sad thing, so the blog went on hold. There was nothing we could do to fix those problems, but Donald showed me a way to work around them, and I'm able to post photos again.   This will be a hodge-podge blog entry with a little of this, a little of that, and maybe even a dash of "Oh my gosh, why are there so many photos of daylilies?! This is supposed to be a craft blog, not a garden blog, you monster!"  (I do technically have a garden blog, but I haven't posted there in so long... They'd be lonely!) So, where to start...? I finished a diamond painting a while ago.  It's an autumn-themed picture-- pumpkins and some unknown-to-me birds.  I really like how this one turned out!  The darker background makes the subject stand ...

Last time, I shared a photo of supplies gathered for making mini bunting to decorate my craft room.  I made most of it during the weekend.  I was surprised at how quickly it came together-- but also by how far those triangles went.  I ended up with much more bunting than I'd expected!  Not a problem, really.  If I get tired of it (or if it gets in the way), I may take it down, but for now, I think it's fun! The supplies I used, in case anyone's interested, are as follows: -- colorful felt triangles (synthetic felt, cut with an old rotary cutter) -- cotton crochet thread (size 10; rainbow variegated, probably South Maid 'Mexicana') -- colorful glass beads (larger seed beads, maybe "E beads"?) -- needle (small enough to fit through beads, but not too tiny) I'm not great with a needle and thread, so my stitches are far from even, but I don't think that really matters with this project.  I alternated triangles with beads until I had what f...

Continuing where my last post left off... I made a couple of doilies for Granny W. using a dusty rose thread that matches some of her decor. First, a pattern that I've used before (in blue, that time).  I found the chart online, and I don't  remember much about it.  I don't know its name-- don't know if it even has one-- but I call it "North Star" because it looks vaguely star-like to me.  It's fairly small and very simple, so long as you don't mind trebles.  Possibly it's meant to be made in large numbers and joined together to make a tablecloth or lacy bedspread?  The other doily was worked using the same ball of thread. (Actually, I made this one first, then worked up the smaller doily with the remnant.) It's a Patricia Kristoffersen design-- "Majestic" from her Masterpiece Doilies booklet. Though I've posted a couple of videos featuring these felt mice pincushions, I don't think I've ever put up a still photo of the group. Here are a couple: (I've written before about making this type of pincushion. The mice in the tutorial from which I got the idea look a little different from mine. I still haven't gotten completely honed in on how many photos it takes to make a video that doesn't zip by in five seconds flat, but I'm working on it. Here's a little stop-action video I made, with my felt mice and doughnut pincushions in starring roles. ;o) My video-making skills need a little polishing, but it was still fun to put together!

It's inspired by those penny rugs that had such a resurgence in popularity a while ago. I topped it off with one of my handmade polymer clay buttons.
